The Drink Game

How To Play:
You might be asking yourself at this point, isn't that the object of all of these games? Well, yes. You'll see that the name fits for this game, plus we couldn't think of anything else. The idea of this game is simple. It's really the combination of a few different games, mostly Once upon a Time, the Name Game and Colander Head. All you need to play is a supply of beverage and some friends. You'll also need to know the name of different drinks and a sense of creativity. If you don't have the last two you can still play, it just might be a little tougher.

To begin play someone simply needs to start, just make sure everyone knows what you are talking about when you do. The idea of the game is to tell a story using the names of different drinks as either the names of people, places, things or else to describe something that has happened, or an action. In other words, to use the names of drinks as nouns, adjectives and verbs. The player who starts is the one who begins the story. Each player must add at least one sentence that uses the name of at least one drink. Also the sentence must make sense with the rest of the story. The use of the drinks in the sentences must also make sense. A player may add a sentence that does not contain the name of a drink to help keep the story moving as long as they have also added a sentence that does. After a player has added at least one qualifying sentence they may pass to the next player.

If a player cannot think of anything within 5 seconds, or cannot add in the name of a drink, or try and add in   the name of a drink that does not exist, or cannot be proven to exist, they have to drink. Players should take at least two drinks if they cannot think of anything and 4 drinks if they attempt to use a made up drink. Since the existence of a drink can be subject to debate, the other players should vote as to whether or not they will accept the drink. Drink names cannot be reused unless they are being used as the name of a character in the story, a specific thing or as a place. Basically use your best judgment to see if the names of drinks are being used properly.

The game ends when a player can wrap up the story in a logical ending or when everyone gives up. If a player can end the story then that player can make all of the other players take two drinks for not being as clever as they are. Bartender guides can be used as reference material only if a drink is in dispute. They cannot be used by a player during the game to provide inspiration.

An alternate way of playing is to allow each player to give all of the other players one drink for each drink name that they can work into the story. This makes things a little more interesting and give the players something to strive for. Have fun with this one and maybe you might learn something.
