Elevator Picnic
On an April Fools dare in 1995 I got on a 51-floor elevator ride during the moring rush hour. When first getting on there was room enough for me to set up a small red-checked table cover with a thermos of coffee and some bagels and cream cheese. I sat in lotus position and sipped coffee.
Mostly I got stares and people trying not to look, but I did get a couple of people who asked for a bagel and were grateful for me including them in my morning picnic. It was funny to watch as the elevator got crowded how people were careful to try not to step on the table cloth even if it meant crowding their own personal space.
It was a harmless joke, no one got hurt and I got $50 for completing the dare!
Skipping Like A Schoolgirl
In March a couple of years ago I had now been jogging for two months straight, trying to lose a beer gut I had acquired since turning 40. I've always been a big guy, 6'4" and around 280 lbs in recent years. I've got the horseshoe hair thing going and often wear a ball cap while jogging along my mile and a half course.
Well, when March turned over onto April 1, my girlfriend challenged me to make an April Fool of myself. Instead of my regular jogging routine she wanted me to go for a skip. In fact, she wanted me to go skipping in the style of a little schoolgirl along my regular jogging path (next to a high traffic roadway). My girlfriend was even willing to wager $100 that I would not do this.
I figured $100 was $100 so, off I went, my big beer-gutted self skipping along my jogging path, watching the curious expressions on the motorists faces as they passed me by. My beer gut was flopping so much I couldn't keep my shirt down so I'm sure this added to the spectacle.
As I made the last turn on my skipping extravaganza I notice my girlfriend had grabbed her video cam and positioned herself on the opposite corner to capture this debacle on tape. We haven't played the tape since then and I'm still wondering when it will rear its ugly head again.
I did let her off the hook for the $100 though and she found another way to please me (wink, wink), so I figure the whole episode, silly and foolish as it was, was well worth it.
Raining Cereal
First, you find a paper plate and punch a hole in it. Next, you thread a string through it and tie it while you tape the other end to the top of the fridge door. (this works best if the string matches your fridge color) You fill the plate with cereal and set it on top of the fridge. When someone comes to get a snack out of the fridge, the cereal will fall on top, and if you stationed the plate right, you will get them on the head.
Greg Kihn this, Greg Kihn that
Ok, so sometimes we teachers have a little extra planning time on our hands. A particularly annoying teacher was obsessed with the Greg Kihn Band. It was Greg Kihn this, Greg Kihn that and he kept bidding on posters from e-Bay during school time. Well, when the posters finally arrived we sneakily stole them from his room. We made about 200 copies of the posters(while he was in the copy room mind you). Anyhoo, we went to his house one night and covered his car with the photocopies using tape and sticky tack.
The icing on the cake was that he didn't lock his car doors. We got inside the car and tied about 75 yards of string to every last nob, lever and nook of that car and plastered Greg Kihn's image everywhere. Let's just say he came to school the next day and was absolutely quiet. We finally shut him up.
